Psychotherapy is used to explore and process thoughts, experiences and emotions.
Our providers are trained in a variety of modalities: Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, Group Therapy and Harm Reduction Psychotherapy.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that is widely used to treat a range of mental health conditions. It focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and aims to help people change the way they think and behave in order to improve their mental health.
CBT is based on the theory that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are all interconnected. If we have negative thoughts about ourselves, for example, this is likely to lead to negative emotions such as anxiety or depression. In turn, these negative emotions can lead to problematic behaviours, such as avoiding social situations or abusing drugs or alcohol.
CBT helps people to understand how their thoughts and behaviours are linked, and teaches them how to change their thinking patterns so that they can feel better emotionally. It can be helpful for people with a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, addiction, and eating disorders.
Another type of psychotherapy that is often used in conjunction with CBT is Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT). REBT is based on the idea that our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us can affect our emotional state. If we have irrational beliefs, for example, we are likely to experience negative emotions such as anxiety or depression. REBT helps people to identify their irrational beliefs and replace them with more rational ones. This can help to reduce the symptoms of mental health conditions.
Mindfulness is another form of psychotherapy that has become increasingly popular in recent years. Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment without judgement, and has been found to be helpful for people who struggle with anxiety or depression.
For medication management clients, our providers incorporate brief mindfulness and CBT-based coping tools in session to holistically address the neuro-chemical imbalances in the brain and provide you with tools for managing symptoms as we tailor your medication regimen.
